Monastic Life and Work
The Camaldolese nuns see work, whether manual or intellectual, as one of the key elements of collaboration in the process of conversion for those who enter monastic life. In the monastery, therefore, work is not only a necessary element for maintaining the material needs of the community and the poor, but also an element closely linked to the values of the Gospel, as well as a means of encountering God.
“Then they will be true monks if they live by the work of their hands, as did our Fathers and the Apostles”
(Rule of St. Benedict, 48)
The work is carried out in an atmosphere of prayer, in harmony with the hermitic and cenobitic life, integrating action and contemplation.
