Community life
The choice of celibacy for the Kingdom of God, lived in communion with our sisters, is the most significant symbol of the radical orientation of our entire existence towards the Lord.
The monastic community, a small reflection of the Holy Church, transmits the experience of life and spiritual wisdom above all through its lifestyle. We are introduced to it through a process of discernment and growth that has the characteristics of an “initiation” through the experience transmitted from one generation to another and verified by the Gospel. Each person is called by the Lord to respond personally with obedience of faith in a freedom that grows ever more and finds its raison d’être and its measure in undivided love for God and for one’s brothers and sisters.
In his rule, St. Benedict conceives of the monastery as a family, firmly united by the vow of stability. Camaldolese nuns bind themselves deeply and permanently to a concrete community in order to develop, throughout their lives, the seed of vocation that God has placed in each one’s heart.
